GeneWeb Service Information
As a member of USGenealogy.net, you are entitled to an instance of GeneWeb .
This is an independently developed and deployed application. You will find it an enjoyable, easy to use and thoughly useful Genealogy tool.
We desire as many people as possible to utilize it due to those traits. What you get is this, one completely independent, fully functional (except for certain
setup features you will not need) copy of the 4.09 version of this program. You will be using the "CGI" method of access only. You may use, build, and fully
customize it anyway you desire. That includes the ability to place passwords to better protect your data.
Notes
1. We at USGenealogy will not be responsible for damage caused by
external forces such as typing mistakes and the like. We ask you allow us to copy your data into our Master Database (if only your data is "static, not containing "Live persons"). We request this in order
to better serve non-members who may just be passing through. We hope you understand this one tiny intrusion into your personal business but we are trying to
help fellow Genealogist solve problems here. We do frequent system backups and will send you a copy of your personal database, on CD, for a small fee if you desire.
We feel with this application combined with 30mg of disk space and free HomePage (a link to your Geneweb is built in to the HomePage), USGenealogy.net is the place to
either start, or continue your Family Roots Search. We also request you leave our link-back intact. This is the small picture on the bottom of the default page.

3. For those new to Geneweb, Go Here .
4. For those with existing Gedcom files, we will be happy to assist with converting that format to one GeneWeb can use. It's all good.
5. For support, try these links;
6. We reserve the right to suspend, alter, delete or update the service or any instance of the service without warning. Although we can't think of many reasons why we'd do that.
7. Known bugs. Please see Bug Page for more information. We fixed a problem with our file editor. All functions should operate normally.
8. Directory Scheme - Please see this page
9. Hacks - We have a of a way to include the ability to download an entire Geneweb database in "Gedcom" format. This was created by a fellow Geneweb user and many of us use it now. Actually, there are two separate
components. One is the already mentioned entire base gedcom download. The other is a gedcom download of the pedigree of an individual. Both carry the same Genealogy warning, don't use if your base contains "Live Person Data". If you are a member,
or have a "Local Version" of Geneweb, please use the email link below for the instructions. Of course, for a "Local Version", please try the yahoo group link above. Members, your link set is different than those in a standard version found at groups.yahoo.
10. Your "Local Version". On your Webpage (Members only since 020104), there is link on the bottom refering to "gwtp". With this routine, one may Configure, upload a GEDCOM or download in two different formats, one a GEDCOM. For entry into "gwtp", use your
"Thumper" membername as the Database and your "Thumper" password in its' place. The rest is fairly self-explanatory. One more note here. The "Local Versions" (on member pages) are all "CGI Mode" Genewebs. This differs from our Main Database in several ways. There is a slight layout change in the way "Wizard (full access)/Friend (display all Hidden Persons but no modify)" passwords are presented. That is, on the main Geneweb, there are two password forms, one for each. Conversely, with all "CGI Mode" Genewebs,
there is but the one form for passwords. Simply enter which password access level you desire. Also, the actual path to enter Geneweb is different. The main Geneweb uses port 2316 (as in the documentation) but the "Local Version" omes via a cgi file created at signup time and not user changeable. This is an important difference and not covered well in the documentation.
